I love a piano bar. The entire ambiance is just smooooth. Marie’s Crisis is my fave, but sometimes you don’t want to go all the way downtown. Closer to home, I’ve always loved Brandy’s, but the line gets long and they don’t allow dancing (both major red flags for my beau). That’s why I’m happy Melody’s is now in the UES. It’s a calmer environment earlier in the evening, but hits party mode closer to 10. It might not be Marie’s Crisis level, but it’s still a very fun time – and nobody’s going to ask you to leave if you stand up to shake your booty a lil bit.

The space has an art deco feel, which seems right, given the old New York vibes of a piano bar in general. The Versace wall paper adds some old world glamour.

All the drinks were tasty. Blue cheese olives for my dirty tini always endears me to a bar, but I also thoroughly enjoyed my Thanks Be The Guy (a rye-based cocktail). We were heading to dinner after, but did taste a little bite or two and the snack trio had some particularly yummy (read: balanced) wasabi peas. Some things to note: they don’t take reservations and after 7 you’re slapped with a $15 music charge, but I think it’s worth it.
